Efeito da densidade inicial no crescimento de Pinus taeda L. na região Centro Sul do Paraná

Abstract

Avaliou-se o efeito de nove densidades iniciais no crescimento de Pinus taeda L., utilizando-se análise de tronco completa. O experimento foi instalado em 2002, no município de Irati, Paraná. Foram estabelecidos nove tratamentos, contendo espaçamentos entre 1,0 e 16,0 m². Os dados foram coletados aos 9 anos, estratificando em nove classes de diâmetro a altura do peito (DAP), selecionando-se uma árvore por classe, totalizando, 81 árvores. DAP, área transversal, volume individual, área basal e volume por hectare sofreram influência da densidade inicial a partir do quinto ano e os espaçamentos de 4 e 14 m² apresentaram, respectivamente, as maiores e menores taxas de incremento individuais. O espaçamento 14 m² teve crescimento médio em DAP, 37% maior que o espaçamento com menor crescimento (4 m²) aos nove anos. Altura média até nove anos não apresentou diferença estatística, demonstrando que essa variável é pouco influenciada pelo espaçamento, sendo a maior altura encontrada no espaçamento 14 m², 11% superior ao menor crescimento dessa variável (1 m²). Área basal e volume por hectare foram afetados pelo espaçamento e mostraram diferenças entre tratamentos a partir do quinto ano, onde espaçamentos de 1 e 2 m² tiveram maiores crescimentos para as duas variáveis.

The effect of nine initial densities on the growth of Pinus taeda L., was evaluated using complete stem analysis. The experiment was installed in 2002 in the county of Irati, Paraná State, Brazil. Nine treatments containing spacing between 1 and 16 square meters were established. Data were collected at age 9 years, stratifying in nine classes of diameters at breast height (DBH), selecting a tree per class, totaling 81 trees. DBH, cross-sectional area, individual volume, basal area and volume per hectare were influenced by the initial density from the fifth year and the vital spacing of 4 and 14 m² had, respectively, the highest and lowest rates of individual increment. 14 m² had a 37% higher growth in DBH, than the vital spacing compared to lower growth (4 m²) at nine years. The mean height to nine years showed no statistical difference, indicating that this variable is little influenced by spacing, with a height in 14 m² vital spacing 11% higher than the lowest growth of this variable (1m²). Basal area and volume per hectare were affected by spacing and showed differences between treatments from the fifth year where spacing of 1 and 2 m² had higher growth rates for those two variables.
